History of 3rd Hazel Grove Scout Group

3rd Hazel Grove Scout Group was founded in 1957, becoming part of the long-standing Scouting tradition in Hazel Grove and providing local young people with opportunities for adventure, learning and community involvement. From its earliest days, the group has aimed to support young people in developing confidence, independence and teamwork through fun, challenging activities.

Over the decades, generations of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have taken part in camps, outdoor adventures, badge work and community projects, supported by the dedication of volunteer leaders and helpers. As Hazel Grove has grown and changed, the group has continued to adapt its programme while staying true to the core values of the Scout Movement.

In 2025, the group reached an important milestone with the introduction of a Squirrels Drey, welcoming even younger members and extending Scouting opportunities to families at an earlier age. This addition reflects the group’s ongoing commitment to growth, inclusion and meeting the needs of the local community.

Today, 3rd Hazel Grove Scout Group remains active and thriving, building on nearly 70 years of Scouting while continuing to inspire new generations to learn skills for life.
